If you want to solo hell, you'd have to go for something such as hammerdin, or mellee (frenzy barb, zealadin), summonmancer, or maybe a tornado + hurricane druid. Unfortunately, a trap assassin is not an effective solo character. I've played a ton online in groups, and its so much easier to clear areas with just 2 or 3 people with varied skills. Hell difficulty was really made to be run with a group, so that while your traps take down non-lightning immunes, others in your party can mellee or cast fire/cold on them. In your case, there's not much else you can do vs lightning immunes because you can't make the 'ladder only' runewords on single player characters :( The obvious choice on multiplayer is to get an Infinity on that merc, as the lvl 12 conviction will break 99% of all monster's lightning immunity. I've mucked about with trapsins in the past few years a bit, they are pretty fun until you run into lightning immunes. Though, of course, getting the runes and items is another thing entirely. However, I'm really struggling in Act 2, especially with the giant unique packs of lightning beetles I'm running into. Lightning immunes, however (depending on mob type), gave me a lot of trouble, because while I have my Fire Blast to at least try and get 1 or 2 mobs down for DS, I can't take the damage in order to toss enough to get certain types down, particularly when dealing with a rather strong unique pack. That being said, I typically didn't struggle too much in Act 1.

Head: Rare Circlet with ~19 to Lightning and Fire Res, 30 to Cold Trap Assassin, 20 LS/DS/FB, 16 CBS are the highlights.
